We cant wait to see your child at camp, below is some useful information about where to go and what to bring.
Our ADVENTURE days starts at 10am (You can drop off 9.45-10am) and finishes at 4pm ( you can collect 4pm-4.15). If you are unexpectedly delayed at pick up please phone us.
When you arrive at Camp follow the signs, a member of staff will meet and greet you and your child. You will be required to check details such as your phone number, any medical issues and emergency contact. We will spend time settling in your child making sure they feel happy and secure. Once you are satisfied that we have correct contact details, you have received the camp managers contact card and happy your child is ok you can leave. .
Children should dress in comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather with suitable footwear, example trainers (most activities will continue even in the rain so a good coat is a must). We suggest you do not send them with new or valuable clothing or belongings. Long trousers and sleeves are essential, long sleeves are also required for archery. All clothing and belongings should be named. Please provide and apply sun protection cream each morning, we ask that you show your child how to do this before they attend camp. Spray on sun lotion is a good option for younger children as the staff can do this for them and the children can then rub in themselves. Staff will remind children at break times to apply sun cream and help younger
ones if needed. It is also a good idea to send a broad-brimmed hat that shades the face, neck and ears. All children should bring a lunchbox to camp, however, as we do not have refrigeration
facilities at the camps, we suggest you provide a small cool bag (lunch box size) containing a frozen carton of juice or a small ice pack. This will keep the contents cold until lunchtime. In addition to their lunch drink we also ask that they bring a water bottle for use on activities.
We strongly advise that children don’t bring mobile telephones, watches, computer games, ipods and such like on to camp. There is no real use for these items and they are often mislaid as children are busy and excited doing other things. Our staff will not to put themselves in a difficult position by taking care of such items and we cannot accept responsibility if they are lost or stolen. Due to health and hygiene reasons, we are unfortunately unable to allow any birthday cakes (or any other food treats) to be brought onto camp to be shared with the groups.
We ask that you allow a little bit of extra time on the first day to fill in any paperwork and talk to the camp manager, this also gives some time to allow your child to settle in with you
there. Some children do have first day worries but our staff are experienced at dealing with children in these situations and most children quickly forget about their worries and start thinking about the Adventure. Having a friend also book on camp so your child has someone they know is a great way to ensure that they settle in quickly.
When you book and on the first day give us as much information about the condition as you can, the more we know the better able we are to help you child have a safe and successful camp.
At the time of booking give us as much information as possible regarding their allergies and allergic reaction. We will make sure that all staff are aware of the situation. All our staff are first aid trained including the use of epi pens therefore in the unlikely event of an allergic reaction our staff will act accordingly.
All our staff are first aid qualified. Fortunately, almost everything we deal with are grazes, small cuts and stings. For minor injuries we treat accordingly and will log the injury and treatment and will inform you on pick up and signed off. However, should a child suffer a more serious injury or fall ill you will be contacted immediately and the relevant first aid procedure will be carried out.
If your child has a fever, vomiting or diarrhoea we can not take them on camp until 48 hours after the last symptom.
Some of the activities such as Climbing and Abseiling we book in advance, others such as Bushcraft and Hoverboarding are weather dependent. Talk to us at drop off / pick up and we will give you the plan for the day.
